The Hours

我心愛的Fiona Apple在《Extraordinary Machine》 推出之後，睽違了漫長的七年終於發行第四張專輯啦！（尖叫＋灑花）這次的專輯名稱是比1999年的《When the Pawn Hits .........以下N字略 》稍微短一點，名叫《The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever》，又是齒輪又是纜索的，很顯然意境沒有比較好懂，有興趣的人可以參考這篇，索尼官方把專輯名稱翻譯成「公轉不自轉的生存之道」，感覺好像不太對又有那麼點對，總之以我有限的語文能力要翻譯這個顯然是無解，不過新專輯首發主打歌《Every single night》就可以擅自翻譯成每個夜晚，這次的MV一如往常的非常有意境，充滿了溼答答黏踢踢的生物，開場艾波小姐就面露菜色的頭上掛隻章魚哥出場、身邊躺著牛頭人身的Minotaur、趴在泥土上任蝸牛身上爬(抖~)、在鱷魚觀賞池裡餵鱷魚、穿著夏威夷草裙跟烏龜一起泡澡、穿著黑色的灰姑娘禮服趴在大紅色的馬賽克地板上掃地、從皮包裡掏出大腦，夜晚慘綠的水銀燈照射下所有明亮鮮豔的色彩都染上了某種異樣滑稽突梯的憂鬱，Fiona Apple小姐瞪著瘦了一圈之後更大的灰藍色大眼睛邊唱邊無辜的表示「I just want to feel everything」，還有貫穿各場景的金色懸絲線及奇妙的唱腔，都讓人懷疑她是不是家裡蹲七年之後終於瘋了，不過艾波小姐最後慧詰的笑容顯然意在言外，總之繼熱愛了多年的Paper Bag之後，這支MV奪下了我的最愛冠軍榜，聽歌啦！

呼，終於結束，有夠缺乏詩意，把歌詞都毀了，我果然沒有天份，比較無解的部分像是"renounce the mill "，總不會是放棄磨坊，又查不出來什麼俚語和mill有關，有國外網站討論說the mill應該是rumour mill，流言的意思，感覺應該是對。至於"breast's gonna bust open"我想了半天，很懷疑是不是和某種情趣內衣有關係，然後因為艾波小姐19歲剛出道的時候拍Criminal的MV的時候，為了表現出Bad bad girl感覺脫了不少（她那時候真是鮮嫩可愛啊❤），這支現在看起來沒什麼爆點的MV在當年爭議很大，畢竟實在是一夕爆紅，為此她很懊悔自己任導演經紀公司擺布，所以breast與其文謅謅的說是乳房，不如說是奶或胸，另外關於Every single night，我有掙扎了一下，到底是每個夜晚還是每個單身夜，不過歌詞意境比較接近前者，所以就放棄了單身這兩個字，加在標題自爽一下就好，總之只是想說翻一翻自己比較看得懂，就降，睡覺去。
